POSITION SUMMARY:
The Gardener is responsible for maintaining the Park grounds, plants, flowers, and trees.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Plants, transplants, fertilizes, waters, prunes, and weeds flower beds and plant areas. Maintains flowers, bushes, trees, and shrubs. Plants and propagates bedding plants.
• Irrigates, mows, rakes, and trims lawns and/or garden areas. Follow planned landscaping designs to determine where to lay sod, sow grass, or plant flowers or foliage.
• Gather and remove litter. Dispose of trash or waste materials. Performs snow removal as required.
• Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; complies with workplace safety and environmental practices. Ensures proper use of personal protective equipment.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
This job operates in a public environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The physical and mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
• Work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
• Accommodate extensive lifting-up to 50 pounds from ground to 36” and able to carry this weight up to 50’; lift to 20 pounds over the head and back down for up to 4 hours at a time
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Able to wear protective gear as required by OSHA and/or the company
• Maintain a respectful and a calm demeanor when interacting with families and co-workers
• Safely operate all company equipment and vehicles
• Work with various chemicals, and exposure to dust, pollen, water, and other organic debris
• Climb ladders, working in high places, reaching above head.


REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE MINIMUM EDUCATION:
• High school diploma or equivalent education preferred


MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
• One year of gardening or landscaping experience

MINIMUM SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
• Possession of a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the company’s insurance provider
• Effective communication skills
• Ability to read and understand instructions; written and verbal
• Knowledge of horticulture methods and materials, landscaping and cultivation of trees and woody plants.
• Records maintenance skills.
• Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
• Ability to drive motor vehicles.
• Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
• Knowledge of landscape maintenance methods, techniques, and equipment.
• Must present a sensitive, calm, reassuring yet confident manner, especially when dealing with death and grieving families.
• Must be able to tolerate a reasonable amount of stress.
• Must be able to interact well with team members and families.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team

Salary: $16 to $20 per hour DOE.

Schedule: Monday – Friday 7:30 am – 4:30 pm
